At
AccentGSA we have combined years of proven IT
practices and common sense. While the IT
industry has a consistent record of failure, we
have maintained our amazing success rates by
looking beyond our industry to others, and
applying that learning to information
technology. Specialization and ethics are
two major factors to the make-up of a mature
industry. AccentGSA will continue its
reputation of leading the charge on both of
these issues.
Specialization
vs. Generalization
We all
know what follows the phrase "Jack of all
trades". Companies that attempt to cast their
nets too widely often fall short of success,
because, they spend most of their time "figuring
it out as they go" on the client's time. While
these firms appear to be less expensive at
first, they will often take a much longer time
to deliver much lower quality systems than a
specialist will do.
The IT industry is similar to the
construction industry, where there are many
types of engineers (electrical, structural,
HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and construction workers
(dry-wallers, painters, steel workers,
carpenters, plumbers, electricians, glazers,
etc.). The IT industry is just as diverse as the
building construction industry, only less
mature. It is the primary goal of AccentGSA, LLC
to improve the level of maturity of the IT
profession as a whole by giving each of our
clients the benefits of our specialized
approach.
AccentGSA believes in specialization and
has established a broad network of trusted
partners. If we do not have the specialty
in-house, we will be the first to refer you to a
trusted organization that can assist you.
Business Savvy and
Pragmatism
To a businessperson, the
"perfect solution" is the solution that gives
the best short and long-term return on
investment to the business. We have devoted our
careers to delivering these gains to clients
through
unique, pragmatic approach to IT
systems architecture and engineering.
The Right People at the Right
Time
The system architect is
generally the most difficult position to staff
on a project. This is primarily due to the
inability to find the genuine article. Many IT
professionals claim to be system architects,
however very few possess the knowledge and
expertise to truly fulfill the role. System
architects are the "diamonds" of the IT industry
- rare and extremely valuable to a project.
Currently, the system architect is brought on to
projects in an attempt to "rescue" failing
efforts This often occurs far too late in the
process, and is very costly. The system
architect is required most at project initiation
and during the early phases of the lifecycle -
participating more in quality assurance and
project oversight from the middle to the end of
the project.
Regardless of the talent that you have
on the project, the right people, at the wrong
time can undermine the success of a project and
increase costs dramatically. AccentGSA, staffs
projects with the right people at the right
time. We have found that this radically
decreases the costs and the time that it takes
to deliver a project. Currently, many IT firms
staff projects with a certain number of
individuals who may or may not possess the
specialized skills needed for the project. These
individuals remain on the project throughout the
entire system development lifecycle even though
they are often utilized in areas far beyond
their expertise. This is not an efficient
staffing method, which results in an enormous
waste of money and poor quality deliverables.
Ethical and Professional
Representation
AccentGSA, believes
that a lack of ethics and professionalism are at
the core of many of the industry's woes. This is
common with most young industries, which is why
organizations such as the BAR Association, the
American Medical Association (AMA), the National
Association of Realtors (NAR), as well as many
others exist today. These organizations were
formed by people who cared enough about the
future of their respective industries to take a
stand for what was right. This is why AccentGSA,
is a proud corporate supporter of Project
Epsilon, the industry's first technology and
methodology neutral ethical and professional
trade organization.
The Natural
Process
This is our proprietary
system development process that has been used to
maintain a more than 95% success rate over a ten
year period of time, while the industry
struggled to maintain 1/5 that success rate. If
you would like to learn more about the
Natural
Process, we will be publishing a book about
it in Spring of
2006.
